And Arsenal will begin without Johan Djourou, subject of this week's "WTF?" moment. Our young Swiss defender is off to Birmingham on loan for the first half of the season. Will we call him back in January? You'd hope so, what with the African Nations Cup in early 2008, which sees us lose Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue, and Emmanuel Adebayor. Though to be honest, I don't think Ade would have been in the back four anyway...
So, our list of loanees for the start of the season reads:
- Johan Djourou - Birmingham City
- Matthew Connolly - Colchester United
- Kerrea Gilbert - Southend United
- Carlos Vela - Osasuna
The youth dropped their second match at the Champions Youth Cup, losing to Flamengo 2-1. It's going to be tough reaching the Quarter Finals at this stage. Let's hope Bouldy manages to bring the boys out fighting for the final group match against AC Milan. No word on starting 11 or the goal scorer yet.
The 9 Ladies off to the World Cup are "ecstatic" about being called. You'd hope so. I mean, it is the World Cup and all.
There are more "Bernie Ecclestone is interested in buying Arsenal" stories this evening. I guess this one is on a weekly schedule.
So. William Gallas, huh?
