First day of the season and a two of our loanees saw action.
Matthew Connolly was one of a number of new signings debuting for Colchester in their 2-2 draw with Sheffield United. Nothing of note by Matthew during his 90 minutes, other than being in a back four that allowed James Beattie to score his first league goal in almost 10 months.
Kerrea Gilbert also managed 90 minutes as Southend United dropped a 2-1 decision to Leyton Orient.
