As for the Bishop's Stortford match, well-my "source" was wrong. The match is actually this coming Friday. I guess checking out the Bishop's Stortford web site could have helped, but nooooo-I had to trust someone's typo.
Fran Merida talks to Arsenal.com about getting his chance in the Carling Cup this year. I'm certain every supporter is also anxious to see Fran play at a higher level as well. Nacer Barazite also talks about having to adjust to English football. He's another many want to see moving up a level. Here's hoping.
It seems Luton Town are sniffing around Joe O'Cearuill, and he is reported to have played a closed doors friendly for the club this past Tuesday. Luton need to replace Leon Burnett after selling him to West Brom, and we need to, uhhh...do something with Joe. While I'm sure he's a nice guy, his was a signing I never understood. Joe was cut by Leyton Orient and Watford before we signed him. Not exactly ringing endorsements, are they?
It's been a while since we had a Faye White update, hasn't it? Well, since we last checked in, Faye score her first goal in the W-League as the Ottawa Fury defeated the Vermont Voltage 5-0 on July 18. Faye scored the fifth goal in the 83rd minute, turning in a teammate's shot at the far corner. Two days later in Vermont, the Fury decimated the Voltage again, this time by a score of 11-0. No goals for Faye this time, though the Fury now receive a bye to the next round of the playoffs, which start this week, and sees Ottawa enter at the semi-final round this weekend against either the Toronto Lady Lynx or the Laval Comets. The winner moves on the finals the next day, Sunday, July 29.
It looks like Sylvain Wiltord is off to Rennes. Let's hope he shows up on the first day without the police in tow.
Ex-trainee Lee Canoville signed for Notts County. Now a veteran of the lower leagues, Lee has made more than 180 appearance at senior level. Good on him.
