Football returns.

So, today brought us our first preseason match for 2007-2008. The senior side, with a nice mix of reserves and youth, knocked off a 2-0 win over Barnet at Underhill. The goals came from Emmanuel Adebayor and 17 year-old Dutch midfielder Nacer Barazite. Complete line-ups and substitutions can be seen on the match page.

An interesting note from the match-Dr. Richard Evans came on in the 89th minute for Barnet. Who? Well, the good doctor's wife Lesley paid £10,000 to allow her husband the privilege of coming on for short appearance. Funny thing is it might now allow Barnet to purchase another young player for the club.

A big congratulations to the Willow Foundation and the club, who together raised more than £200,000 for the Foundation, which was Arsenal's Charity of the Season this past year. For those of you not familiar, the Foundation was founded in 1999 by former keeper Bob Wilson in memory of his daughter Anna who passed away from cancer. They organize special days for seriously ill young adults with various illnesses. Check out the Willow Foundation website to learn more.

So now Steve Bruce wants Armand Traore at Birmingham? Do they have a youth set-up anymore, or does Steve just sit outside out youth and reserve matches, peering between posts in the fence to see which player turns him on that day?

Ángel Di María of Rosario Central in Argentina has been linked with us in numerous web sites, some even saying we've signed him. Interesting signing if true, and no media in the UK have picked up on this, which is both strange and nice.

Don't forget the match against Waltham Forest Sunday afternoon.

Final words go here.
