No, not me. Though I have been insulted with "ladyboy" a few times in my life.

While not directly related to the ladies, they are affected by the news that Charlton Athletic have shut down their women's squad effective immediately. The news comes as a bit of a shock to all those on the team, as well as to the Women's Premier League, who now have to play next season with only 11 teams. This is because they held their AGM already, and the rules state that major changes, such as promoting a replacement squad, can not be made after that point.

Former Arsenal Ladies player and current (former?) Charlton captain Casey Stoney summed up the situation perfectly, stating, "I'm disgusted with the club - the men get relegated and we get punished. The club's only trophies in recent years have been won by the women's team - and in the last four seasons we were the only side apart from Arsenal to win major honours."

Charlton weren't quite at the level our ladies are at, but they were no pushovers and competition is always good for the game, and the termination of the Charlton Ladies means one less competitor to push our squad. A sad day for the ladies game, for sure.

Speaking of the Ladies, the Ottawa Fury and Faye White ran out 4-1 winners over the Toronto Lady Lynx in W-League action Saturday evening in Ottawa. No real stand out plays for Faye, though Toronto's goal was credited to a "defensive mix-up". No word how long she played, though detailed reports will be available later through the W-League site.
