Another one out the door (officially) as Jeremie Aliadiere sealed his move to Middlesbrough on a three year deal for a reported £1.5 million. I still find it incredible that he spent 7 years at Arsenal, with only 19 starts and 32 substitute appearances to his name. Well, here's hoping we get a little more out of Niklas Bendtner.
Arsenal appear to have lost the race to sign Bolton wunderkid Kyle Bartley, with Manchester City making a last minute bid to keep the youngster in the north. No reason to panic at this point, and if he ends up there, so be it.
The Romford Pele Ray Parlour is a reported target for Barnet. Parlour was released after the end of the season by Hull, having been on a pay-per-play contract while training with Arsenal at London Colney.
Speaking of youth, former Young Gunner Stefan Gislason is looking for a move to a team in the Premiership, Ligue 1, or the Bundesliga. Well, one can always dream.
Former youth striker Jo Kuffour (or Jo-Osei Kuffour to you and me) has moved to Bournemouth on a free from Brentford. Jo left Arsenal and spent four seasons with Torquay before moving on to Brentford last season.
A cool story coming from the Highbury construction site as workers have discovered two horse shoes and what appears to be the remains of a cart. Arsenal supporters should be familiar with the tale of a horse and his cart being buried under the North Bank after falling to its death during foundation work in 1913. The tale seemed dead and buried in 1992 when the redevelopment of the North Bank went by with no evidence being unearthed. But this time around, workers were digging deeper, and the artifacts were discovered.
The day's biggest story, though, was the meeting between Stan Kroenke and Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood and Managing Director Keith Edelman in New York City. Reports say the meeting went well, but nothing of note has come from it as yet. Now, I realize it may not be popular to say, but I do not feel the hatred many do for Wal-Mart Stan (yet). His plans are not yet public, and what little we do know hasn't been enough for any thinking person to really make a total judgement. If he brings loads of debt and cripples the club for years, then I'll pour scorn on him as much as possible. But if he's responsible enough with this club as he has been with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL and the Colorado Rapids of MLS (with their new stadium as well), then he'll get the benefit of the doubt.
But that's all wait-and-see for now.
